For Our Earth
Every year millions of tons of plastic enters our oceans and harms our ecosystem.
Plastic represents such a huge disconnection; we treat it as though this almost indestructible substance is disposable, only using it once when it lasts longer than our lifetime.
Made By Mars was originally created to reduce waste by reusing and refilling packaging we would usually throw away; so it is close to my heart to use this platform to keep trying to better our home (the earth as well as our bodies)!
Through the continual and growing support my creations have received, I want to provide that same support to a good cause.
In the first couple of years of MBM, we decided to make monthly contributions to some different organisations (alternating each month) that are doing what they can to either educate kids and communities about the importance of keeping our earth clean, or physically removing waste already in our seas.
TAKE 3 FOR THE SEA
Building a global movement of people who are connected to the planet. Providing education and inspiration to clean up our beaches and oceans, as well as hands on efforts to reduce the impact of plastic pollution.
"Take 3 pieces of rubbish when you leave the beach, waterway or... anywhere and you have made a difference."
4OCEAN
Recovers plastic from the ocean and recycles it to create more of their rubbish removing equipment. What cannot be reused is sent to centres with the most sustainable method of disposal.
THE OCEAN CLEAN UP
Aiming to clean up 90% of ocean plastic pollution with the use of passive cleanup methods which use natural oceanic forced to rapidly and cost effectively clean up plastics already in the ocean. Also, by tackling 1000 rivers worldwide, they aim to stop 80% of plastics first entering the sea.
The plastic obtained will be turned into products available for purchase and as this is a Not-For-Profit organization, all funds will be put back into the project.
REEF RESTORATION FOUNDATION
The Great Barrier Reef has endured significant events of coral-bleaching among other harmful occurrences, and many other reefs are harmed the same.
The Reef Restoration Foundation is helping to improve the health and resilience of the Great Barrier Reef by growing and planting more coral by creating coral nurseries to replenish affected areas.
BIRTHING ON COUNTRY
Birthing on Country (BOC) is a once in a lifetime project, created and driven by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to build a better future for First Australians. Waminda has partnered with Molly Wardaguga Research Centre and the Australian College of Midwives, to create a service where Aboriginal women and their families can experience their pregnancy in a culturally safe and nurturing environment. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led model of care ensures women can choose how and where they give birth, while being supported by leading medical professionals.
THE WILDERNESS SOCIETY
"The Wilderness Society is powered by thousands of Australians from all walks of life. We work to support the living world that makes all life possible (including our own)."
Together, we're taking on transnational corporations, rogue operators, and the armies of lobbyists and politicians who defend them. From the corridors of Canberra to the streets of your town, we're here to change the system.
"We live in a truly special country, but weak environment laws and government inaction have made Australia a world leader in extinction and deforestation. Extinction, however, is a choice. We need strong new environment laws so that the places we love can be protected."
Thankyou for all the love and support. Let’s take care of our homes together! Sending love to you all!
